Android app

Download nearby Opencaching caches as GPX.

Emergency GPX downloads nearby Opencaching caches, saves them as a GPX file, and opens that file in Locus Map or another Android GPS app.

  • GPS or manual coordinates
  • Locus Map handoff
  • Opencaching via OKAPI

Purpose

A small utility for creating a GPX from the current area.

The app is intended for situations where you need a new GPX file while away from a computer. Choose filters, choose or confirm the search location, download the file, and open it in a compatible map or GPS app.

Features

Main functions.

01

Download nearby caches as GPX.

Emergency GPX uses OKAPI to search for nearby Opencaching caches and retrieve them in GPX format. The request uses the selected result limit, filters, and search coordinates.

  • Search around your current GPS position, typed coordinates, or a point shared from Locus.
  • Filter caches before downloading.
  • Use phone language preferences for downloaded cache descriptions.
  • Write the GPX to app cache and open or share it through Android.

02

Locus Map integration.

Emergency GPX can receive a point shared from Locus Map. After downloading the GPX, it tries to import the file back into Locus. If that import is not available, Android's regular open/share flow is used instead.

  • 1Share a map point from Locus.
  • 2Emergency GPX uses the point as the search location.
  • 3The generated GPX opens in Locus or another compatible app.

Found-cache handling.

Enter your Opencaching username to either skip caches you already found or keep them in the GPX and mark them as found. Leave the username empty if you want a plain nearby-cache GPX.

  • No account inside the app.
  • Username lookup is sent only to the selected OKAPI installation.
  • Settings are saved locally on your device.
